Refractive surgery is a group of surgical procedures developed to help you reduce or even eliminate your need for eyeglasses or contact lenses. There are two basic types of refractive surgery, one changes the shape of the outer optical surface of the eye called the Cornea; the other changes the internal optics of the eye through advanced technology artificial lenses.
LASIK is the most common type of procedure to reshape the cornea. LASIK is nearly painless and patients generally see improvement to their vision immediately after surgery. Michael Hettinger, M.D. and Christopher Ketcherside, M.D. are our both trained in the latest techniques for laser vision surgery.
Call our Refractive Coordinator, Mary Galloway (913.322.9148) for details on how to begin the process of evaluating your vision for LASIK correction.
Advanced technology Intra Ocular Lenses (IOLs) are now available to many patients who require cataract surgery and would like to minimize or eliminate their need for glasses or contact lenses after cataract removal surgery.
Our cataract surgeons, Dr. Hettinger, Dr. Ketcherside, Carl Migliazzo, M.D. and Sara O'Connell, M.D. can discuss your options for conventional or advanced technology lenses. Click here to request an appointment.
