Dr. Stephen Nichols has been helping patients see their best for more than 20 years at KC Eye Clinic. He provides comprehensive family eye care with special interests in contact lenses, ocular disease treatment and management, and helping patients maintain healthy vision throughout every stage of life.

He grew up in the small Kansas town of Parsons. He attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate studies before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. While in optometry school, he was recognized for his professionalism and patient-centered approach with the prestigious Council on Ethics Professionalism Award.

Following graduation, Dr. Nichols completed a residency in primary care and ocular disease. He then served as an Assistant Professor at the Illinois College of Optometry and worked as a Clinical Associate with the University of Chicago Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences before transitioning to full-time private practice.

One of the most meaningful chapters of his career began in optometry school, where he met his wife, Becky. Today, they continue to care for patients alongside each other at KC Eye Clinic.

When he’s not caring for patients, you will likely find him on the pickleball court, in the yard, or outdoors hunting. He also enjoys listening to podcasts, following Kansas City sports, and spending time with his wife and their 3 adult children and friends.
