Cornea, Refractive, and Cataract Surgeon

Dr. Megan Haghnegahdar is a fellowship-trained cornea, refractive, and cataract surgeon who is passionate about helping patients improve both their vision and quality of life. She specializes in cornea and ocular surface disease, corneal transplant surgery, iris repair surgery, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery, combining advanced surgical training with a compassionate, patient-first approach.

A Kansas City native, she grew up in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Mission West High School before pursuing her medical career. Dr. Haghnegahdar earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at KU Eye. During residency, she quickly stood out as a leader and educator, earning recognition as Rising Star Resident, receiving the Alan Riley Resident of the Year Award, and serving as Chief Resident. She then completed her cornea fellowship training at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital, one of the nation’s most respected ophthalmology training programs.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Haghnegahdar enjoys cooking, exploring the Kansas City food scene, and cheering on the Kansas City Current with her husband. She is also a proud dog mom to two very spoiled rescue pups, Eddie and Jo, who keep life entertaining and guarantee plenty of long walks. Friends and family know her as someone who loves trying new restaurants, hosting gatherings, and finding any excuse to spend time outdoors when the Midwest weather cooperates.
