Kristin S. Biggerstaff
M.D.
Cataract and Glaucoma Surgeon
Dr. Kristin S. Biggerstaff is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon who is passionate about helping patients protect and restore their vision. She provides advanced surgical care for glaucoma, including MIGS procedures, drug-eluting glaucoma implants, tube shunt surgery, and combined cataract and glaucoma procedures. She has a particular interest in helping patients achieve better glaucoma control with fewer medications and, whenever possible, a drop-free lifestyle.
Dr. Biggerstaff completed her undergraduate degree at Andrews University and earned her medical degree from Loma Linda University. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital before pursuing advanced glaucoma fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine.
Before moving to Kansas City, Dr. Biggerstaff spent nearly a decade caring for veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Hospital in Houston while also serving as an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. During her career, she has helped train more than 50 ophthalmology residents and fellows, contributed to multiple research studies, co-authored peer-reviewed publications, and remained deeply committed to providing exceptional patient care.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Biggerstaff enjoys life with her husband, whom she first met in college before the two eventually reconnected and started dating nearly a decade later thanks to a little help from Facebook. Together they are raising two sons and a stepdaughter, along with a lovable mini dachshund. She loves visiting local plant nurseries, although she’ll admit, not all her plants survive. If she wasn’t an ophthalmologist, her dream job would have been working full-time at a nursery. Having lived in California, Texas, Illinois, and Michigan, she is thrilled to now call the Midwest home again and firmly believes “Midwest is the best.”
