LASIK

Eye doctors most commonly perform LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) as the refractive surgery procedure on the cornea. In LASIK, an eye doctor uses laser energy to reshape your cornea, essentially sculpting your prescription into your eye. They cut a thin flap on the surface of your cornea, then fold them out of the way. Dr. Ketcherside treats all LASIK patients with a bladeless or all-laser corrective surgery with the Femmtosecond laser. He then uses laser energy to sculpt your exposed cornea to correct your vision, then replace the flap, and cover the treated area. LASIK is nearly painless, highly successful, and you can see the improvement in your vision immediately after surgery. Another type of corneal refractive surgery is called PRK (photorefractive keratectomy). It differs from LASIK in that no flap is made; the laser directly sculpts the front surface of your cornea.  This can be a safe alternative for some patients who do not qualify for LASIK.  Each refractive patient receives a custom treatment and a lifetime warranty for future enhancements.

If you are interested in refractive surgery, please call our LASIK coordinator Mary Galloway at 913.341.3100. Starting September 1st, we are offering a 10% discount for all qualifying refractive patients through the end of 2013. (You can’t be combine this discount with other discounts). You can just mention you saw this post to Mary when you call to schedule.
